About
Us
We
are a husband and wife team, our motivation, total commitment and passion is to the countryside and the green policies, our
farm is in complete harmony with nature and are very happy to be building a base that we are confident, will stand the test
of time.
Frenchs Farm was formed in 1984, we are a totally organic farm of approximately 165 acres. We use no herbicides
or pesticides and our herd is fed organic feed with no growth promoters or hormones added. All of our electric is from a company called ‘Good
Energy’ it is certified and our source is from renewable energy from wind farms, wave power and hydro-power, we feel
this is of massive consequence.
Due to good field management and grazing our pastures are clean, and the dung left by our herd is
parasite free. Our cattle have a high level of natural immunity so we have no need for antibiotic or worming drugs.
We rotate our fields for grazing
to save poaching in the winter and feed the pasture with our own farmyard manure, this encourages no end or wildlife to our
pastures in the form of birds, ducks, geese, pheasants, deer, butterflies and many different insects. We harrow to promote
healthy grass and wild flowers for the summer and our hedges hold an abundance of nesting requirements, we also walk out and
manually remove undesired weeds that may have seeded uninvited. This also encourages minimum leaching into
our well-maintained streams and ditches; this gives us not only a good healthy environment for out cattle but is also very
pleasing on the eye.
We have forged a good Green Partnership with Essex County Council; we have a tenancy in South Weald
Park where we graze our herd organically, again in the way cattle graze they encourage new growth on the fauna and flora of
the park, hence a healthy and natural way to promote a well balanced natural environment, in conjunction with the Countryside
Stewardship Scheme.
